I let the voices in my head take creative control.
I hardly decide a name of a story before I start to write it. I name it based on the theme I'm exploring. Here are some examples. I added pictures because I'm fun.
The Royals: A King's Heart (Actual Name) I started it as "The Royals". I extended this name because I was bullied to write Book 2 and now we're in the middle, Book 3 is waving hello. Now it seems we might have our very first book series in the making.
The Big Mountain (Actual Name) I started it as "The girl of the big mountain" Her surname is Ntabenkulu. It's very fitting. She is quite literally the big mountain herself.
A Love Like This (Actual Name) I started it as "Boys Club" Simply because girls aren't involved until mid story. The boys were at odds. It was about the boys. However, the form of the story is love.
A Deal With The Devil (Actual Name) I started it as "Devils Den" It just sounded basic. I don't like basic. The name must describe the story and when you're done reading it also make sense like "Oh yeah!". This one does. It's cute.
Bound by Belief (Actual Name) I started it as "The Power of a god" Again. Basic. It tells you immediately there's a god involved but you're not supposed to know that. The only God you must know is the one being served and then understand why you're bound. It makes sense!
I probably forgot the others what their save names were but if you grab my phone or get hold of my G drive, you'll see the most randomly named things.
Same with characters. Sometimes they tell me a few chapters in they don't really like their name so I have to change it.
I'm currently sitting on 11 story concepts and each name is just 😩?
